NEW REPORTING RULES FOR GOVERNMENT RUN ANIMAL SHELTERS IN GEORGIA

Animal Shelters to Report Numbers: 2020 Rule Changes per The Georgia Department of Agriculture

Under new rules changes found at 40-13-13-.03h, record keeping has expanded for Animal Shelter in Georgia. It was in effect June 1, 2020 but the GA DOA will begin capturing data August 1, 2020 which will include July’s data. A notice letter with directions on reporting was sent to licensed Government shelters.


The rule will only applies to Government run Animal shelters and will not apply to rescues (even those contracted with a County or Municipality). Entire Rules can be found here.


The GA Department of Agriculture has initiated new rules for reporting for Government run Animal Shelters. The reporting does not include budgets, staffing or shelter capacity and the population of the jurisdiction.
